The Berners Hotel - News Update
London, May 2006 - While the building is being emptied and walls are torn down inside to make room for more spacious accommodation, the outside changes rapidly.
Wrapped in white sheets the façade and exterior walls are vanishing behind the massive scaffolding required for the 500 workmen to get around the site. The Berners starts to resemble a castle more than a public hotel, with its entrance via the scaffold lift to the first floor or the works entrance through the basement.
The design of the rooms is also taking shape with bathroom fittings, wardrobe layouts and furniture configuration being finalized. The most spacious rooms and suites receive walk in showers next to baths and handheld shower facilities on top, while others receive adjustable showers in the bath.
Guest transport is still a crucial subject and while the location of the two main guest lifts remains as previous, a new lift to serve the new fitness centre and back building is still under review to find the ideal location.
While rubble moves out, ideas are pouring in to make The Berners a state of the art home in London!
